Another great post with stunning photos … especially Icy Blues! Loved the message and the video with William Shatner — he’s got a great sense of humour.
Wishing you and Kevin a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Looking forward to your next move and more adventures.

Colleen, reading your blog reminded me of the poem from Mary Sarton ‘Journal of the Solitude’. “I did write a poem, so it was not a wholly wasted day, after all. And it occurs to me that there is a proper balance between not asking enough of oneself and asking or expecting too much. It may be that I set my sights too high and so repeatedly end a day in depression. Not easy to find the balance, for if one does not have wild dreams of achievement, there is no spur even to get the dishes washed. One must think like a hero to behave like a merely decent human being”.

Beautiful, Colleen. It’s so easy to forget, as we stumble through the familiar tasks of the day, that it truly is a gift. To be above ground, as they say. To be able to smell the earthy aroma of the coffee as the coffee maker sputters to the finish line, is something. “Anything that connects us to life is brave and true.” At this time of year, more than any, I suppose, it’s so important to put on the brakes – look around. See.

Merry Christmas to you and your family. Hope the holiday is filled with joy — and gut-splitting, wine-spilling laughter. Love you.

    Love this post! Thanks.

Having faith during this time of darkness that the light will return on cue in the Spring is part of the courage of living, isn’t it? It’s a season with Persephone, and we must enjoy all we can of it.

Personally, I’ve just purchased snow shoes!
