Yesterday morning I decided to be a responsible blogger and installed a new wordpress plug-in called “wordpress backup”.

Doesn’t that sound like the right thing to do? Especially since I,

 a) have a wordpress blog,

 b) had just read about being careful about backing up and realized I didn’t have a clue,

c) had read that this wordpress plug in was the thing I should use,

d) it was easy

Ha Freaking Ha!  My blog disappeared into the ether.

It would not load.

It would not play.

It would not come out – any way.

I felt like I’d eaten green eggs and ham and that my name was Sam I am.

I immediately wrote Laurie McConnell at  (Bad Dog Design) an email filled with freakin’ out expletives about how my world had ended etc etc. , so Laurie, my Super Geek Heroine graciously tried to communicate on my behalf with my server,  JustHost.com.

Ahhh…but here’s the thing. JustHost didn’t have Laurie as an authorized contact. I emailed them – repeatedly – that I was authorizing her. 

Rote and bureaucratic email conversations ensued.

So, I tried the phone number where someone is always waiting for my call. In fact, I listened to the looping tape with at least 25 repeated messages telling me how important my call was to them…no really..apparently it’s really, really important to them.

Why else would they keep repeating it? They also said I could just leave a message by hitting the zero and they’d get back to me. Finally I did it. I hit zero to talk to the automated operator so I could leave my really, really important message…

Those kooky people at JustHost must have a great sense of fun about these things because I just got a really fast busy signal so I had to hang up. No phone message for moi. They were just kidding about that message thing I guess. Silly me for thinking they meant it.

There’s a longer story here, but I’m now a beaten woman.

I’m just glad that someone finally fixed it. A lovely man named Mark on the JustHost LiveChat option merely asked the perfect question and listened to my answer. The thrill of it all.

And Laurie has finally been added as an alternative email contact so really, there’s no problem is there?
